1. I don't know a lot about English grammar. How will I get through the course and graduate?

A very commonly asked question. Don't worry. It is our job to see that you acquire the grammatical knowledge needed to at least achieve a passing grade. Grammar is an important course module and you will be given ample instruction in the basics needed to become a competent grammar teacher. The way we present this topic on our course makes it fun and easy to understand. There is even an option to receive extra tuition if you want to.

2. Will the evenings be free? And what about the weekends?

Although there are no classes scheduled for the evenings, you will be expected to spend some of this time on lesson planning etc. The weekends are free. One of the advantages of the six week course is that it allows for ample free time to enjoy yourself. We feel it is important to take time out from the classroom and let your hair down with Samui's various attractions now and again.

3. I've never taught before. Will that be a problem?

No, it will not be a problem. By the end of the course you will possess all the skills necessary to confidently step into the classroom. Indeed most of the people who enroll on our course are new to teaching.

4. I am not a native speaker of English, will that affect my chances of being offered a place on the course?

As long as you are competent in all 4 skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing), there is no reason why you should not apply.

5. How many hours of observed teaching practice do I get? Who are the students?

There are 6 hours of observed teaching practice. This means that you will receive instruction in lesson planning, classroom management and teaching methodology prior to entering the classroom, teach your lesson and receive feedback from your tutor shortly after the lesson. The students will be a mixture of primary, high school or adults students so that you get as much practice as possible with a varied age group.

6. Do you set an age limit for your courses?

No, there is no limit!

7. What is the average class size?

Average class size is 6 students, sometimes smaller, sometimes bigger.

8. How much will it cost to live on Samui?

You actually need very little money. Of course, you will want to enjoy yourself during the weekends so you should budget separately for any travelling you wish to do. Accommodation is also an added expense will need to take into account. See the FAQs below. The obvious attraction of the Full Moon Party is very cheap to visit as are the nearby islands. Food is available at any of the market places and restaurants at reasonable prices and is also available at the school at lunchtimes.

9. Will I have access to a computer?

Yes, there are computers available for your use that are connected to the Internet. You can also connect your laptop to the Internet.

10. Are the trainers well qualified?

Our head trainer, is a very well qualified trainer and extremely experienced in all levels of education in Asia. Follow this link to the trainer's page

11. Where can I find accommodation?

If you require accommodation to be arranged for you, please let us know when you apply. Otherwise you can find an apartment when you arrive or have a look at our accommodation page to book in advance. Places to stay on Samui are plentiful with such a choice that we can find something suitable for everyone. Let us help you so that you get discounted prices!

12. What are my chances of finding employment soon after graduating?

Before the end of the course you will be given assistance in your job hunt by our staff. Although we cannot guarantee successful job placement, do not worry, we do our utmost to point you in the right direction. We will also help you to write an appropriate resume and give you Email addresses and contact numbers of language schools in Thailand and overseas. Most people completing our course manage to find employment soon after the course ends. Thinking of teaching in Japan, Korea or Taiwan, then visit this site run by Dave Roberts http://www.teflone.com/

13. What kind of visa do I need?

This is not necessary. You will be provided with a set of course books on the first day and various handouts throughout the course.

15. Do I need a college degree to enroll on your course?

No, you do not need a degree to take our TEFL course.

16. What do I need to bring with me?
